Ultrathin coating boosts heat transfer efficiency 5.5 times in lab tests

Scientists have developed an ultrathin coating that dramatically improves heat transfer efficiency during condensation. Tiny polymer structures once seen as defects now act as nucleation sites for water droplets, which detach quickly to expose fresh surfaces. Tests on copper tubes showed the coating was 5.5 times more effective than bare copper and over 50% better than standard water-repelling coatings.
