China delays Chang'e 7 Moon mission to 2027, citing need for "absolute success"

China's Manned Space program announced the postponement of the Chang'e 7 lunar exploration mission, which had been scheduled to launch this year from the Wenchang Space Launch Site. Authorities stated the decision was made to ensure "absolute success," though no specific technical reason for the delay was given. The mission — comprising an orbiter, lander, rover and a mini-hopper probe — is designed to land near the Moon's South Pole and is now targeting a 2027 launch window.
