Despite fresh competition from fellow Sony release Insidious: Out of the Further , the holdover mega-hit Spider-Man: Brand New Day held on to the number-one spot at the domestic box office for the fourth weekend in a row. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has rapidly climbed into the ranks of the highest-grossing films of all time in just three weeks, and with more than $35 million this weekend, it came one step closer to achieving its biggest win yet. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton , the film marks star Tom Holland 's fourth solo outing as the friendly neighborhood superhero, not to mention his appearances in several ensemble MCU blockbusters. In fact, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is poised to overtake the most successful MCU movie of all time, which also happens to be the highest-grossing hit that Holland has ever appeared in.
