Mariam Abu Dagga: the journalist who stayed in Gaza and was killed in an Israeli airstrike
Mariam Abu Dagga, a journalist and mother working for Independent Arabia, was killed on 25 August 2025 in an Israeli double-tap airstrike on Nasser Hospital in South Gaza — the last functioning hospital in the area. She had a chance to evacuate Gaza but chose to stay to document the ongoing violence. Chief international correspondent Bel Trew reconstructed her final days through witness testimonies and visual evidence.
