Premier League clubs face new cybersecurity rules with fines up to £100,000

Starting with the 2026–27 season, Premier League clubs must comply with mandatory cybersecurity standards covering data backups, risk management, incident response and security assurance, or face fines of up to £100,000. The rules were introduced because clubs hold large volumes of fans' personal and financial data, making them prime targets for cyberattacks. The Premier League board, not a government regulator, is responsible for enforcement.
