Inherited an estate? You have 6 months to notify the tax office

Anyone who inherits an estate in Poland must notify the tax office within 6 months of the court ruling or notarial certificate of inheritance becoming final. Failure to meet this deadline means losing the tax exemption available to the closest family members and having to pay inheritance tax on the full amount. Immediate family (the "zero tax group") are exempt only if they file on time.
