Gifts from grandparents: grandchildren have six months to report or face tax
Under Polish law, cash gifts from grandparents to grandchildren are tax-exempt, but only if the recipient reports the transfer to the tax office within six months of receiving it. The reporting obligation applies to cash gifts above a set threshold, and failure to comply results in a tax liability. The rules cover both small everyday transfers and larger sums, such as contributions to a mortgage deposit.
