China considers robotic fortresses on South China Sea islands

Chinese researchers have proposed converting disputed South China Sea islands into robotic fortresses defended by coordinated networks of unmanned drones. The concept would replace conventional troop-based defences with autonomous systems. The proposal was reported by Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.
