West Nile virus kills 5 in North Macedonia with over 40 infections recorded
Five people have died in North Macedonia after contracting West Nile virus, local authorities confirmed. More than 40 cases have been recorded in the country in recent weeks. The virus is mainly transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause severe neurological complications including encephalitis.
