Inter thrash promoted Monza 4-1 to open Serie A title defence

Inter Milan opened their Serie A title defence with a 4-1 home win over promoted Monza. Hakan Çalhanoğlu put Inter ahead in the sixth minute, but Gustavo Varela equalised for Monza before half-time. Second-half goals from Esposito and Bisseck sealed the victory; elsewhere, Udinese drew with Como and Lens beat Auxerre 5-0.
