Storms batter Poland — over 8,000 fire brigade call-outs, 145,000 without power

A Genoa low-pressure system swept through Poland, triggering more than 8,000 fire brigade interventions due to heavy rain and strong winds. Fallen trees blocked roads and floodwater inundated properties and cellars. Several scout camps were evacuated as a precaution, and 145,000 households in north-eastern Poland were left without electricity by early afternoon.
