Same-sex foreign marriage transcriptions now possible at Polish civil registries

Starting Sunday, every Polish civil registry office must allow transcription of foreign same-sex marriage certificates. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski called the change the "end of fiction" and said the Polish state will now better protect the dignity and rights of its citizens. The move is significant for same-sex couples who married abroad but lacked legal recognition in Poland.
