A forest fire near Valencia forced more than 1,000 people to evacuate their homes, striking close to areas recently hit by flash floods. In nearby Catalonia, civil defence teams conducted 200 rescue operations after flooding trapped residents in vehicles and buildings. The twin emergencies have stretched emergency services across eastern Spain.
