Tooth count predicts survival after pancreatic cancer surgery, study finds
A study of 339 patients found that pancreatic cancer patients with at least 21 natural teeth survived nearly two years longer after surgery than those with fewer teeth. Researchers believe tooth loss reflects decades of inflammation, frailty and poor nutrition linked to overall bodily resilience. The findings suggest oral health may serve as a marker of a patient's general ability to recover.
