Queen bees survive pesticides by shifting them into their eggs
A newly discovered survival strategy shows that honeybee queens exposed to pesticides transfer part of the contamination into their eggs. While this may protect the queen herself, it puts developing offspring — and potentially the entire colony — at risk. The finding sheds new light on how pesticides affect bee populations.
