JWST reveals early galaxies may be four times more massive than estimated

Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have found that massive early galaxies harbour far more small, faint stars than previously thought, making some of them three to four times more massive than earlier estimates suggested. The discovery deepens the mystery of how such enormous, mature galaxies could have formed so soon after the Big Bang, and also suggests that planets around low-mass stars may have been more common in the early universe.
