Norway to open whale centre on Andøya island — building designed to rise from the ocean

A unique whale knowledge centre is being built on the island of Andøya in northern Norway, designed to blend architecturally with the rugged coastal landscape and appear to grow from the ocean shore. It will be located near Andenes, close to the Bleiksdjupet underwater canyon, where nutrient-rich deep waters bring whales unusually close to land. The centre aims to become a leading source of education about whales and their role in ocean ecosystems.
