NASA cancels rescue mission for Swift telescope due to control system failure

NASA has cancelled a planned rescue mission for its ageing Swift space telescope. The LINK probe was designed to use robotic arms to capture Swift and boost it into a safe orbit, but problems with its control system forced NASA to abandon the attempt. Swift will now remain on its current orbit without intervention.
