Poland could lose over 6 million residents — western regions most at risk of depopulation
The proximity of the German labour market, a lack of domestic investment and weakening ties with central Poland are driving depopulation risk in the so-called Recovered Territories in western Poland. According to Professor Andrzej Karpiński, the country could lose more than 6 million residents without an urgent long-term economic and social strategy for these regions. He is calling on the government to act immediately.
