US to oversee 31 tonnes of Venezuelan gold held by Bank of England
A breakthrough is reportedly near in the dispute over Venezuelan gold held by the Bank of England. US-brokered negotiations are heading toward a deal under which 31 tonnes of gold would come under American oversight and be earmarked for Venezuela's reconstruction after the June earthquake. Both government and opposition representatives have agreed to the terms, with the process to be monitored by international auditors.
