Trump signs space policy targeting 1,000 launches per year by 2030

President Trump signed a presidential memorandum establishing a new national space transportation policy, replacing a 2013 Obama-era document. The policy calls for new spaceports on federal land and sets a target of more than 1,000 launches and reentries per year by 2030. Last year saw 176 orbital launch attempts from US soil — nearly ten times the 2013 figure — with SpaceX accounting for 165 Falcon 9 orbital launches.
