Pentagon fires Stars and Stripes editor-in-chief for insubordination

Erik Slavin, editor-in-chief of the US military newspaper Stars and Stripes, announced Friday he is being fired for insubordination. Slavin suggested the dismissal is retaliation for speaking out about the publication's editorial independence. Stars and Stripes serves US military personnel and their families.
