Ukraine converts Soviet BRDM-2 armored vehicles into remote-controlled combat systems

Ukraine is converting Soviet-era BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance vehicles into remotely operated combat systems to keep troops out of danger on the front lines. The Central Innovation Activities Directorate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is overseeing the project; Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn said the planned remote-control range is up to 1 km. Uncrewed ground vehicles are primarily used for logistics and casualty evacuation but are increasingly being deployed in direct ground combat and air defence roles.
