Patricia Douglas sued MGM for assault at a studio party in 1937 — decades before #MeToo
Patricia Douglas was a bit-part actress who in 1937 alleged she was sexually assaulted at an MGM studio party and took the studio to court — eight decades before the #MeToo movement. MGM suppressed the case and Douglas was largely forgotten for years. Her story has since become a landmark example of Hollywood's long history of silencing abuse victims.
