NASA study: Earth microbes could survive on the Moon and contaminate it

NASA scientists studied how five Earth microbes might fare on the Moon and found that the risk of biological contamination is greater than previously thought. One of the tested microbes has already been shown to survive outside the International Space Station. The findings raise concerns about protecting the lunar environment from contamination during crewed and robotic missions.
