Uber fined €825m by Dutch regulator for automated driver account suspensions
The Dutch Data Protection Authority fined Uber €825 million ($966 million) for deactivating driver accounts through automated systems without adequately informing them, in a decision dated 17 August. The penalty is the second-largest ever issued under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). European regulators have been ramping up enforcement against US tech companies over privacy, competition and digital market rules.
