Hyundai eyes 800,000 vehicles a year at Georgia plant amid Trump tariffs

Hyundai is considering expanding its HMGMA Georgia plant's annual capacity from 500,000 to between 700,000 and 800,000 vehicles by 2028, which would make it the largest vehicle assembly operation in the United States. CEO Jose Muñoz revealed the plans to CNBC. Trump's tariffs are the key driver, pushing the automaker to shift more production to American soil. Future models at the plant could include midsize pickups and body-on-frame SUVs.
