Tesla must add safety labels to nearly 3 million cars in China over rear door emergency risk
Chinese regulators have ordered Tesla to add emergency-opening instruction labels to 2.98 million Model 3 and Model Y vehicles sold in China, clarifying how to open rear doors without power. New technical rules for electronically controlled doors take effect next year for newly approved cars; existing models like the Model 3 and Y are grandfathered until end of 2028. The tighter rules follow a series of fatal crashes in which occupants were trapped in burning vehicles.
