3.5 million Cubans lack running water as US oil blockade deepens crisis

Around 3.5 million people in Cuba — roughly one-third of the population — now lack reliable access to running water, up from 2.6 million in August, according to the Cuban Institute of Hydraulic Resources. Seven months of an effective oil blockade by the Trump administration have intensified power outages and are driving a deepening public health emergency. The crisis is being attributed to the combined effect of fuel shortages and ageing water infrastructure.
