Imported eggs behind UK salmonella outbreak — 207 infected, one dead
Imported eggs served in UK cafes and restaurants are the source of a salmonella outbreak that has infected 207 people, killed one and hospitalised 34, the UK Health Security Agency said. Salmonella is a bacterium spread mainly through contaminated food, most commonly poultry and eggs. Domestically produced British eggs remain safe as they meet UK food safety standards.
