Iga Świątek advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati after Jelena Rybakina retired during their match. It is the first such retirement Świątek has benefited from this season, though since 2021 at least one opponent per season has withdrawn from a match against the Polish player.
