Hackers target security pros with fake conference invites to install macOS malware

Security firm Huntress detected a ClickFix campaign targeting cybersecurity professionals who attend conferences like Black Hat and DEF CON — including Huntress researchers themselves. Attackers build rapport on X, then move to DMs with fake conference invites that trick victims into pasting malicious code. The code installs the AMOS infostealer on macOS, stealing credentials and cryptocurrency wallet data. Those affected are advised to isolate systems, reset credentials, rotate secrets and review crypto wallets.
