Losing your phone won't lock you out of your identity if you've blocked your PESEL number

A viral claim warned that blocking your PESEL number and then losing your phone would permanently prevent you from proving your identity. Poland's Ministry of Digital Affairs has debunked this, confirming that even without a smartphone, identity can be confirmed through other means, including in person. Blocking a PESEL number remains recommended as protection against fraud.
