Michigan township halts data center linked to nuclear weapons lab

Ypsilanti Township in Michigan unanimously passed a 180-day moratorium on major electric utility infrastructure on August 18, the latest move in residents' fight against a planned $1.2 billion, 220,000 sq ft hyperscale data center. The project is backed by the University of Michigan and Los Alamos National Laboratories, the Pentagon's nuclear weapons research facility. The moratorium is a delaying tactic rather than an outright block on construction.
