Ebola in DR Congo: over 2,500 dead as outbreak spreads exponentially

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is accelerating sharply, with more than half of the 2,500-plus deaths occurring in the past 20 days alone. UN senior Ebola coordinator Julien Harneis says the virus is spreading faster than any previously recorded outbreak. He is urging a rapid scale-up of resources to prevent the epidemic from crossing into neighbouring countries.
