ZUS: Poles missed nearly 148 million workdays on sick leave in the first half of the year

Poland's Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) data for the first half of 2026 shows sick leave totalling nearly 148 million days, despite a drop in the overall number of sick notes issued. An increasing share of absences lasts between 11 and 30 days. The leading causes are spinal problems and mental health issues.
