New 2.3-metre bronze statue of Herman Melville unveiled in New Bedford

A 2.3-metre bronze statue of Herman Melville has been unveiled in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The sculpture stands beside the Seamen's Bethel chapel, where 185 years ago Melville heard a sermon before the whaling voyage that inspired Moby-Dick. The statue was created by artist Stefanie Rocknak, whose design won the commission.
