1.7 million Poles froze their PESEL numbers after MyDr data breach — banks warn of phishing risk
Following a cyberattack on the MyDr service, nearly 1.7 million Poles have frozen their PESEL identification numbers. Banks reassure customers that personal data alone is insufficient to take out a loan, but warn that the leak could enable convincing phishing calls, text messages and emails designed to extract further sensitive information. They advise caution with unsolicited contacts.
