Rybakina retires injured against Świątek in Cincinnati, ending her bid for world number one

Elena Rybakina retired injured during her quarter-final against Iga Świątek at the WTA tournament in Cincinnati, ending her latest attempt to displace Aryna Sabalenka as world number one. Świątek progressed to the semi-finals as a result. Rybakina's withdrawal leaves her bid for the top ranking in tatters.
