Civil society groups urge Berek to withdraw his bid for Poland's Constitutional Tribunal

A coalition of rule-of-law foundations has published a joint statement calling on Maciej Berek to withdraw his candidacy for a seat on Poland's Constitutional Tribunal. The organisations argued that the Sejm should elect a candidate guaranteeing the tribunal's independence and non-partisan character. Berek's candidacy is backed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
