TSMC could begin mass producing 1.6nm chips in late 2026
TSMC has reportedly completed development and verification of its angstrom-class A16 (1.6nm) manufacturing process. The new node is said to offer an 8–10% boost in computing speed and a 15–20% reduction in energy consumption compared to the previous generation. Mass production is expected to begin in Q4 2026, putting TSMC close behind IBM in the sub-2nm race.
