Critical NASA software flaw could have let hackers command spacecraft

Researcher Yuval Elbar discovered a critical vulnerability in the browser-based AIT-GUI tool — part of NASA's AMMOS Instrument Toolkit used for spacecraft ground control. The flaw, present in versions up to 2.5.1, would have allowed an unauthenticated attacker to issue commands to spacecraft and onboard instruments. The vulnerability has been patched in version 2.5.2; NASA has not publicly commented.
