Infantino heads to Dominican Republic junior tournament in bid to cling on to FIFA presidency
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has made plans to attend a U14 Boys Challenge competition in the Dominican Republic organised by the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), despite being urged to stay away by senior Concacaf figures. The move is seen as an attempt to lobby for votes and split the European and North American coalition seeking to remove him from office. Twenty-one CFU associations are FIFA voting members, making the event politically significant for Infantino's survival.
