CFTC chief warns he'll create crypto rules himself if Clarity Act fails
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig told agency staff at the inaugural Innovation Advisory Committee meeting that his agency will not remain idle if Congress fails to pass the Clarity Act on crypto regulation. He signalled the CFTC is prepared to draft its own rules for digital assets, including those under the jurisdiction of exchanges handling bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The move puts pressure on lawmakers to act on the pending legislation.
