Magnitude 6.7–7.2 earthquake strikes Peru's southern Andes

A strong earthquake struck the southern Andes region of Peru, with the US Geological Survey recording a magnitude of 6.7 and Peru's Geophysics Institute putting the figure at 7.2. There were no immediate reports of casualties following the quake.
