China's new Y-15 turboprop military airlifter emerges with clearer imagery

China's new medium-sized tactical airlifter, now designated the Y-15, is becoming clearer as new imagery emerges. Developed by Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation, the four-turboprop transport is intended to replace older Y-8-series aircraft and eventually the Y-9, with the ability to operate from austere airfields. The aircraft was previously widely referred to as the "Y-30"; the Y-15 designation is supported by the prototype's apparent "15001" serial number.
