At least 50 dead after boat capsizes in northwestern Nigeria

At least 50 people — many of them reportedly children — were killed after a boat capsized in Sokoto state, northwestern Nigeria. The accident is one of many such tragedies on Nigeria's inland waterways, where overcrowding and lack of safety equipment are common problems.
