Russian shadow fleet tanker leaking off Oman coast — oil slick covers 2,000 sq km

The abandoned tanker Caroline Bezengi, part of Russia's shadow fleet, is leaking oil off the coast of Oman, creating a slick covering more than 2,000 square kilometres. A rescue operation has begun near the island of Al-Qibliyah. The vessel is uninsured, complicating clean-up efforts and raising questions about liability for the environmental disaster.
