Government deadlock over extended producer responsibility system risks higher waste fees

Poland's UOKiK competition watchdog has rejected the Climate Ministry's arguments for handing oversight of the extended producer responsibility (ROP) system to the National Environmental Protection Fund. The Interior Ministry has also raised objections to the draft legislation. Without agreement, waste fees for consumers are likely to rise.
