Climate change to triple days above 105°F in the US

Climate models project that the number of days exceeding 105°F (40°C) in the US will triple as global warming intensifies. Researchers identify 95°F (35°C) at 100% humidity — the "wet bulb" threshold — as the absolute limit of human survivability, beyond which organ failure and death are inevitable. Such conditions are now forecast to appear globally by mid-century. Even temperatures well below that threshold pose deadly risks for the elderly, ill and low-income populations.
